I traveled down the East Coast with a one month hop on/hop off bus with Premier Motor Services. I began the journey in Cairns stopping at Airlie Beach, Whitsunday Islands, Rockhampton, the Capricorn Coast, Hervey Bay, Fraser Island, Noosa, the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Surfers Paradise, the Gold Coast, Byron Bay, Nimbin, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Newcastle and ending in Sydney to begin my Working Holiday Visa.

Yes, Whitahven Beach and Whitsundays are two excellent shots which I'm sending to friends and . . . print for my album. Of course with your permission, ok? Thanks! Thu 6-Jan-2005 10:47

Australia marks my first time to step into a Western country in 3 years since I left Vancouver in 2001! So far, I find Australia too Westernized, too touristy, and too expensive (the 3 Big Too's). However, this is only an initial impression which I hope will change for the positive in the future. The Aussies are some of the most friendly, extroverted, and hospitable people that I've met in my life which is always a bonus! I will be heading from Darwin to Cairns and then down the East Coast to do a Working Holiday in Sydney.

A great enjoyment-Repon Bangladesh Wed 8-Dec-2004 14:47

Hey old man.

Agree on the 3 big Too's, specially on the East Coast. But if you accept it and loosen up a bit, you'll realize it's a fun and beautiful country. However, I believe you'll like NZ more (I did myself).

How's the job search going?

Rubbish when u arrive in Adelaide its probaly the cheapest living cost with Sydney being the most expensive. 1hr parking in the city here costs $1.40 and $3.90 will still buy u a plate of chinese food here. Rents for a 2bedroom apartment can be found for around $160 a week and thats a new apartment. Take my expenses for instance my car cost me $240 and came with airconditioning and a cd player and my rent in my 2bedroom apartment is $37.50 a week of which i can show proof and im right in the heart of the city of Adelaide. Beat that for being on the cheap. Wed 17-Oct-2007 18:57

EAST TIMOR EXPLORATION...

I was lucky enough to visit the newest country in the world: East Timor (which got independence from Indonesian occupation in November, 2002). The Timorese people are some of the friendliest in all of Asia and the country is one of the least touristy in all of the area! As I was traveling the East Coast of Timor, a goat ran in front of my motorbike leading to the death of the goat and injury to me!

The Philippines has been a wonderful and delightful suprise...the country has by far met and beat my wildest expectations! The Pinoys are incredibly hospitable people! It's unfortunate that the Western Media gives the Philippines such a bad reputation due to the terrorist and kidnapping activity in Southern Mindanao. I definitely recommend travel to this country due to the lack of tourists and the warm of the locals!

Hey, there! Really nice stuffs you've posted here which I really enjoyed viewing. I must say you did a wonderful job at those pictures. With your permission am gonna have two of them printed - the Twin Lakes and the view of Australia's shoreline. Thanks for the invitation too.

I was somewhat disappointed after my arrival from Southern Borneo (Kalimantan) to Northern Borneo (Sarawak, Brunei, and Sabah). While expecting to find local people living their traditional lives in remote places, I instead found rapid development, Modernization, and Westernization like in Penninsular Malaysia. In addition, the amount of rich tourists doing tropical adventures was overwhelming! The highlights were exploring the uncharted areas of Kalimantan, staying in a traditional Longhouse in Sarawak, and seeing the abundant wildlife in Sabah.

ricky nice photos....thanks fr updating me Sun 21-Nov-2004 13:42

The Bali and JW Marriot bombings have virtually obliterated tourism in Indonesia. This has both it's advantages and disadvantages. One main benefit is that everything is dirt cheap (due to big supply and small demand) while one of shortfalls is that everyone is always bugging you for money. The diversity of this country (in terms of landscape, language, and ethincities) is overwhelming. Indonesia has to rank in my top 5 favorite countries in all of Asia thus far!

SIGHTSEEING IN SINGAPORE...

View all 30 photos...
Singapore is by far the cleanest city I've been to on my entire trip! This cleansiness is largely due to the overwhelming amount of fines the "Communist" Goverment levy (which range from gum chewing/smuggling, spitting, littering, jaywalking, urinating in public, dancing in the streets, etc). However, in spite of this overcontrol of the public, I loved the city and ended up staying lot longer than expected!

Hi, your site is very nice and interesting too. And ur pics i love them the most. Nice job done they, keep it up. And more pic is needed. Take care
Vera.

MEANDERING THROUGH MALAYSIA...

An eagle welcoming visitors to Langkawi...
Watch out for cows!
The Westernisation of Asia...
Malaysia is one of the most Westernised countries I have seen in all of Asia....however, the multicultualism of the country is what adds to its charm. There are a wide mix of Malays, Chinese, and Indians living in harmony and cooperation! It's definitely a site to behold!

Westernised.... I think Malaysia has a strong and wonderful assimilation of international (global) + malaysian (Local) culture. I guess I am proud to say that this is a good example of a Glocal country. I think Singapore is a lot more westernised than Malaysia, till the extend where they do not have any identity of their own. Cambodia will be forever changed because of the Khmer Rouge regime...people's lives have been altered dramatically...it's heartbreaking to be walking around in the local markets and seeing people who have lost limbs from stepping on lines mines left from the Civil War. I leave this country impacted by these people's memorable lives more than the awe-inspiring temples of Angkor Wat.

Beautifully captured with relevant history >> thanks for visiting my country and page >> we are also discovering human remains done by colonial Pakistani Ruler during our Independence movement >> Thanks again for your comment on my country >> Tue 24-Feb-2004 07:18

THE WONDER OF VIETNAM...

The luxury of traveling!

Vietnam has often mystified foreigners due to media exposure of the "American War" and the lack of contact with the West. Tourism is now rapidly changing the country as more and more travelers are pouring into Vietnam. The sights of this country are numerous but the constant harassment to buy something by the locals is frustrating.
